Our Sustainability Efforts

To align with the forum theme of sustainability, we aim to minimize the environmental impact of our event in a number of ways:

  • Venue Practices -

    • Chestnut Conference Centre serves of 60% of their meals using locally produced ingredients.

    • UofT (including Chestnut) is a bottled water free zone. Complementary jugs of ice water are available.

    • All organic waste is composted.

  • Minimize Paper Use/Printing - When possible, Forum material will be presented in a digital format and we will be using plantable seed paper for name badges.

  • Reduce Waste - As a means to minimize waste by foregoing the option of providing conference bags (plastic or otherwise) and encourage attendees to bring their own.

  • Sustainability Partners - We are actively looking for sponsors from private and public organizations that share a similar commitment, and endorse the sustainability measures we are taking for this year’s Forums.

  • Offset Emission - NC Forum is bullfrogpowered with 100% green electricity. This means that Bullfrog Power’s generators put 100% green power into the grid to match the amount of conventional electricity the event uses, displacing energy from polluting sources. Across Canada, Bullfrog’s green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities. How to Make Your Experience Green

We encourage attendees to green their experience through the following ways:

  1. BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle/Bag) for refreshments including water, coffee, and tea / material distributed at the event.

  2. Go Digital by taking notes on an electronic device. Whenever possible, Forum information, including some presentations, will be available online for attendees.

  3. Consider Your Travel by choosing to walk when possible, and either carpooling or using a ride share with colleagues to and from the event.

  4. Offset your attendance at the conference.

Share your tips on how you make your conference experience green!
